The endless internal competition where everyone keeps raising the bar (degrees, certificates, 'specs') just to keep up. Koreans say 무한 경쟁 (endless competition) or 스펙 경쟁 (resume-spec race); the slang verb 갈아넣다 ('to grind oneself in') captures the burnout.
