Korean Grammar Patterns
-던지
Meaning
(recollection of) how much / degree
How to use it
Attaches to a verb/adjective stem to recall a past experience and emphasize its high degree, usually as the cause of the result that follows. It is typically introduced by 얼마나 ('how much') and means '(I remember) it was so… that…'. Distinguish it from -든지 (which marks free choice/alternatives); -던지 always refers to recollection of degree.
Usually with 얼마나 …-던지: 'how … it was that …'.,-던지 = recollection of degree; -든지 = free choice ('whether… or'). Don't confuse them.
