같이·굳이·깊이 (-이 부사)
Meaning
Adverbs spelled with -이
How to use it
A set of common adverbs is formed with the suffix -이 (not -히): 같이 (together/like), 굳이 (insistently/needlessly), 깊이 (deeply), 높이 (highly), 많이 (a lot), 실없이 (frivolously). Watch the sound-spelling gap: 같이 is pronounced [가치] and 굳이 is [구지] (palatalization, ㄷ/ㅌ + 이 → ㅈ/ㅊ), but the spelling keeps the original consonant — never write 가치 or 구지.
Palatalization also explains 해돋이 [해도지] (sunrise) and 붙이다 [부치다].,많이 keeps ㅎ silent: pronounced [마니].
