Meaning
pretending to / as if
How to use it
Means acting 'as if / pretending to' do or be something, when it is not actually so. Verbs take -는 양, past -(으)ㄴ 양, adjectives/이다 -(으)ㄴ/인 양. Often with 하다 (…인 양하다) = put on an act.
Literary/written nuance; 양 originally means 'manner/appearance.',Close to -는 척하다 but a touch more formal.
